‘Booted Eagle’ Hide

In Mallorca and in some areas of the Southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, there are Booted Eagles (Hieraaetus pennatus) all year round, while in other parts of the country they are summer migrants only. The population of these birds has increased in recent years and it is now possible to photograph them in their natural habitat from our specific hide.

The hide is made of wood and vegetation cover, equipped with a spy glass, and has a capacity for 2 people. Sessions take place in the morning, entering between 9am and 11am, depending on the time of year, and last for about 3 hours.

It is usual that, in less than an hour, the eagle comes to the bait and remains feeding on the perch for more than 1 hour, which is located 17 meters in front of the hide.

< p>With good weather conditions, success is practically guaranteed. In case the eagle does not appear, another date is offered, and if it is not possible, the session has no cost.

The hide has authorization from the Department of Environment and Territory and is available throughout the year.

Operativa de las sesiones

Tras recibir al observador u observadores en la finca, se les transporta en vehículo propio hasta la misma puerta del hide, y con rapidez hay que introducirse en éste. Al terminar la sesión, el mismo vehículo vendrá a recogerles a la hora acordada. Si se desea dar por finalizada la sesión con anterioridad, deberá comunicarse con el personal por vía telefónica. Regeln für eine optimale Vogelbeachtung:

  1. Bitte gehen Sie so respektvoll wie möglich mit den Einrichtungen um.
  2. Tragen Sie dunkle Kleidung
  3. Das Spionageglas bitte NICHT berühren.
  1. Bewahren Sie Ruhe oder sprechen Sie nur mit sehr leiser Stimme. Vermeiden Sie plötzliche Bewegungen, vor allem, wenn Tiere in Ihrer Nähe sind.
  1. Handys auf lautlos stellen! Verwenden Sie Ihr Mobiltelefon nicht als Taschenlampe.
  1. Bitte nehmen Sie nach Beendung der Sitzung Ihre Abfälle selbständig mit.
  1. Innerhalb des Verstecks ist das Rauchen verboten!
  1. Um möglichst jede Störung zu vermeiden, verlassen Sie das Versteck während der Sitzung bitte nicht.
  1. Wenden Sie sich vor dem Verlassen des Verstecks bitte unbedingt an das Personal von Son Maiol Hides, dieses wird sich um die Abholung und den Transfer der Fotografen oder Beobachter kümmern. Das Verhalten und der natürliche Raum der Tiere sollte zu jedem Zeitpunkt so wenig wie möglich gestört werden!

Normas de uso del hide:

  1. Ser lo más respetuoso posible con las instalaciones.
  2. Usar ropa oscura.
  3. No tocar el cristal espía.
  4. Mantener silencio o hablar en voz baja y evite movimientos bruscos, especialmente cuando los animales estén delante.
  5. Los teléfonos móviles se deberán poner en modo silencio. No utilice su teléfono móvil como linterna.
  6. La basura y posibles desperdicios que se generen han de ser sacados fuera por el propio fotógrafo.
  7. No fumar en el interior del hide.
  8. Con el fin de evitar cualquier molestia no salga del hide durante el transcurso de la sesión.
  9. Antes de abandonar el hide contactar con el personal de Son Maiol Hides, que se encargará del traslado del fotógrafo u observador de forma que se asegure la mínima afección en el comportamiento de la fauna.
